Abstract:
Photocatalysis is one of a few methods that can enable endergonic and endothermic reactions. Using natural solar light to drive such photocatalytic reactions is an area of immediate interest
globally. In this lecture, I will highlight a few recent projects, in which my team used 2D materials, graphitic carbon nitrides and covalent triazine polymers, to produce 1) H2 and 1,1-diethoxyethane
from ethanol and 2) H2O2 from O2 and water using natural solar light. As an educator, I will highlight the application of video gaming in teaching physical chemistry at undergraduate level of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. For more information see https://savateevgroup.com/
