Project title: SILVERLAND. Unique silver route to superconducting cuprate analogs.

Competition type: Maestro 9

Financing institution: NCN

Project description: The project is focused on exploration of fluoroargentates(II) and their doped variants, both is the bulk and in thin layer setup. The target is to achieve superconductivity in these and related materials. Key responsibilities include: The candidate will work part time in large synchrotron facilities, while attempting to prepare thin layers of AgF2 on the surface of diverse materials, and characterize them using a number of high-vacuum methods. Partly, solid state reactions of the bulk systems will be performed, and the products will undergo routine characterization.

Profile of candidates/requirements:
The competition is open for persons who meet the conditions specified in the regulations on the allocation of resources for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Science Centre for MAESTRO grant.
Particularly welcome are candidates who have a documented former experience with solid state synthesis, and structural and spectroscopic methods of characterizing inorganic compounds, particularly layers materials, and silver and/or fluoride systems, or their analogues.
Candidates should have a MSc degree in chemistry, physics or materials science. The MSc degree should be obtained prior to the date of employment in the project (Sep 30, 2020).
Candidates should have a confirmed status of a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Warsaw, on the date of employment in the project (Oct 1,2020) at the latest.

Shortlisted Candidates will be invited for an interview with tripartite commission, which will take place on Sep 15, 2020.

Required documents:
1. Cover letter;
2. Current curriculum vitae;
3. Copy of MSc certificate (or, if the MSc certificate has not been obtained yet, a certificate/document about the date of MSc defense); 4. Certified list of all grades from the Master Courses;
5. signed information on the personal data processing, available at: http://bsp.adm.uw.edu.pl/bsp/druki-i-formularze/

We offer: Frontline science, exciting project, friendly working environment
