Two PhD students of the University of Warsaw, Centre for New Technologies received funding in the ‘Pearls of Science II’ programme.

Doctoral students of the University of Warsaw working in the Quantum Optical Devices Laboratory at the University of Warsaw’s Centre for New Technologies under the direction of Dr Michał Parniak-Niedojadło and professor Wojciech Wasilewski have been awarded funding in the ‘Pearls of Science II’ programme of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Stanisław Franciszek Kurzyna, M.Sc., will carry out a project entitled ‘Non-destructive imaging of the quantum state of photons stored in quantum memory’, while Marcin Jastrzębski, M.Sc., will lead the project ‘Ultra-sensitive electrometry using Rydberg atoms in a cavity’.

The aim of the ‘Pearls of Science II’ programme is to support universities in creating conditions for outstandingly talented students to develop by enabling them to conduct scientific research at the highest level. In the current edition of the ‘Pearls of Science II’ programme, funding was awarded to 60 projects, 13 of which will be implemented at the University of Warsaw.
