Project title: Hi-Ox: Journey to the core of the atom – pushing the limits of the reachable oxidation states of metal atoms.
Project Description: Theoretical investigation, using quantum-mechanical methods, if molecules and ions of late transition metals and lanthanides are authentic minima (global or local) and how high barriers protect it against intramolecular reorganization leading to reduction of oxidation states and lowering of system energy.br />
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out quantum mechanical calculations for selected molecular/molecular ion systems described in the application, data reduction, preparing material for a paper, participating in conferences, reporting progress.
Profile of candidates/requirements:
– the 3rd or 4th year student of Chemistry, Physics or similar sciences, – very good proficiency in English, – basic knowledge of LINUX/UNIX OS, – basic programming skills in any language, – motivation to conduct research.
