Description:

Director of Centre of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw, with the approval from the Rector of the University of Warsaw, announces opening of the position of Postdoc (Senior Assistant) in the group of researchers in the project “The role of Tmcc2 in the development and maintenance of the inner ear mechanosensory hair cells”, in the Centre of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw.

Project description: The goal of our team is to improve the understanding of the molecular basis of hearing. The current project aims at elucidating the role of the TMCC2 protein in the sensory cells that detect sound in the inner ear using a mouse model system.

Key responsibilities include:
Postdoc, who has experience in working with mouse models and polarized epithelial cells will be responsible for several aspects of the project, including hearing measurements in mice, isolation of the inner ear tissue, RNA and protein isolation, immunofluorescent stainings and molecular tests. He/She will analyze the phenotype of knockout mice in cooperation with other members of the team.

Profile of candidates/requirements:
The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified in:
– Act of 20 July 2018 Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 85, as amended) and the Statutes of the University of Warsaw;
– Regulations on the allocation of resources for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Centre of Science for OPUS 11 grant;

Additional requirements:
– PolLASA certificate for persons conducting and planning experiments and experience writing animal protocols
– minimum 5 years of practical, documented experience in independent work with laboratory mice, including experiments that require anesthesia, phenotypic analysis of genetically modified mice and supervision of breeding and crossing of mouse lines
-expert knowledge of molecular biology techniques, RNA and protein isolation, PCR, SDS-PAGE, histology, confocal microscopy -experience in cell line culture
-experience in working with sensory hair cells or other polarized epithelial cells will be a plus

The candidate should hold a PhD degree for no longer than 7 years before the date of signing an employment agreement in the project. The PhD degree should be obtained in a country of the EU, EFTA, OECD or nostrified on the date of employment at the latest.
