Abstract:

De-novo assembly uses algorithms called assemblers to reconstruct a consensus string from a large set of short and erroneous fragments. We developed several tools to support this task, including an algorithm for reconstructing repeated motifs, an algorithm for hybrid assembly (using data from different devices to reduce errors) and a fast lock-free algorithm using the de-Bruijn graph. Developing a new assembly algorithm is important due to the low cost of sequencing.
