The ICO Prize was established in 1982. Since then, it has been granted to scientists, under 40, whose work contributed to the development of optics. This year, Prof. Wojciech Wasilewski became the laureate of the prize. He is the first Pole who was selected by the International Commission for Optics.
Prof. Wasilewski specialises in quantum optics. The scientist leads the Quantum Memories Laboratory where experiments with spatially multimode quantum memories are carried out.
Prof. Wasilewski works in the Centre of Quantum Optical Technologies which is a unit created under the International Research Agendas Programme, financed by the Foundation for Polish Science.
