New method of selection of compounds of the anti-SARS-CoV 2

Researchers from the University of Warsaw under the supervision of prof. Jacek Jemielity and dr hab. Joanna Kowalska developed a new screening method based on the phenomenon of fluorescence. It allows the selection of a group of enzymes that inhibit the replication of SARS-Cov-2 proteins. Out of 7,000 compounds, 83 have been identified that effectively limit the coronavirus’s ability to multiply. The results of these studies may in the future form the basis for the development of a drug against both COVID-19 and other diseases caused by viral infection.
