On December 3, the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences selected actual members and correspondent members of the Polish Academy of Sciences as well as members of the Academy of Young Scholars of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Members of the Polish Academy of Sciences are selected by the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences from among scientists who are distinguished by special scientific achievements and authority, and who have an impeccable reputation. The total number of members may not exceed 350. The national member participates in the work of the General Assembly of the academy, faculty, branch, scientific and problematic committee. He submits an annual report on his activities to the vice president of the academy who supervises the work of a given department.
One of the new correspondent members at the Department of Exact Sciences and Geosciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences became prof. dr hab. Konrad Banaszek.
