Results of the competition:
As a result of the conducted competition, the committee has selected Karolina Drążkowska, PhD, for the position.
Description:
Project title: Mammalian cell delivery of stable therapeutic mRNA packaged inside virus-like particles
Project description: mRNA has shown great potential as an attractive alternative to protein and gene therapy in a variety of disease models. However, further development of this therapeutic approach requires solving of a number of problems such as susceptibility of mRNA to enzymatic degradation, inefficient translation in vivo and shortage of methods for efficient and selective mRNA delivery. Cellular stability of mRNA (inside host cells as well as during the passage through cellular membranes) is a crucial problem for all mRNA therapeutic applications.
Key responsibilities include: Enzymatic synthesis chemically modified mRNAs by means of in vitro transcription method. Studies on translation efficiency of modified mRNAs in in vitro and in cellulo systems. Preparation of proteins necessary for project realization.
Profile of candidate/requirements: The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified in:
– Act of 20 July 2018 Law on higher education and science (Journal of
Laws of 2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Statutes of the
University of Warsaw;
– Regulations on the allocation of resources for the implementation of
tasks financed by the National Centre of Science for OPUS 17 grant;
The candidate must be a holder of Ph.D. in molecular biology, and specialist in mRNA biochemistry and cell culture experiments.
We offer: stimulating and friendly work environment, and a monthly salary in the amount of PLN 10 000 gross (about 6 000 – 7 000 net), contract for the duration of 36 months.
