Title of the position: Student in Small Molecules’ Activation Laboratory
Scientific discipline: Chemistry
Job type: Scholarship
Number of job offers: 3
Remuneration/Stipend amount/month: 1000 PLN/month
Position starts on: 15/10/2019 or later depending on availability of funds
Maximum period of contract/stipend agreement: 30 months

Project leader: dr Przemysław Malinowski
Project title: Highly Lewis acidic metal dication salts with weakly coordinating anions as efficient catalysts for transformations of olefins and alkynes
Project Description: The research project is aimed at investigation of highly promising group of novel catalysts of polymerization and cyclotrimerization based on the salts of weakly coordinating anions and common divalent cations like manganese, calcium or magnesium. As shown already by our preliminary results, some of the salts of WCA tested show extraordinary catalytic activity in abovementioned reactions – even hundreds of times higher as compared to currently used catalysts.

Key responsibilities include:
– Synthesis and characterization of novel salts of weakly coordinating anions
– Testing the reactivity of the obtained compounds with olefins and alkynes
– Analysis and interpretation of obtained results

Profile of candidates/requirements:
– Highly motivated, well organized and diligent student willing to gain knowledge in various branches of chemistry
– Experience in organic chemistry or work with air-sensitive compounds will be an advantage
– Good communication skills in spoken and written English

Required documents:
– CV including the most relevant courses done (with grades); please include average from all grades obtained during studies

We offer:
Financial gratification – up to 1000 PLN/month in the form of scholarship
Possibility to participate in cutting-edge research with access to modern analytical equipment
Authorship of papers in top peer-reviewed chemistry journals
Work in a friendly environment
Possibility to make research for master/diploma thesis
