PhD student to work in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Signaling

Dziedzina: Biology

Wyniki konkursu:

W ramach przeprowadzonego postępowania Komisja Konkursowa rekomendowała kandydaturę mgr Tomasza Uśpieńskiego na stanowisko doktoranta.

Opis:

PhD student

(Research area: cell signaling, tumor biology)

Background:

Cancer is a disease of transcription factors – they drive tumor growth, metastasis, and prevent cell death in cancerous tissue. Gli proteins are transcription factors involved in many tumors and developmental defects. The transition of Gli proteins into active drivers of transcription is poorly understood. To discover the molecular foundations of the regulation of Gli proteins in development and disease, you will use state-of-the-art techniques ranging from genetic manipulations of cells and tissues, through in vivo work, to quantitative proteomics and confocal microscopy. We offer:

  • An environment that pushes you to excel, fostering your creativity, autonomy, and personal growth
  • Strong mentoring that will help you develop into a mature and well-rounded scientist
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment
  • A competitive stipend (4500 PLN/month)

You need to be:

  • Willing to take initiative in technical troubleshooting and experimental design
  • Passionate about hard work in a high-pressure environment

Other requirements:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and Polish
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, biotechnology, pharmacy or related fields
  • Experience in molecular cloning, cell culture, flow cytometry, and loss-of-function methods in mammalian cells (shRNA, shRNA-miR, CRISPR-Cas9)
