Project Description: Laboratory of Structural Cell Biology at the ReMedy Unit at the Centre of New Technologies is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join Dr. Piotr Szwedziak’s lab. Successful candidate will lead research projects focusing on molecular mechanisms of large cargo secretion in metazoan cells. We use cryoEM (including electron cryotomography of cryo-focused-ion-beam-milled samples) and biochemistry to study the architecture, structure and function of the endomembrane system and relevant proteins.The lab has full access to state-of-the-art cryoEM facility, which houses a 200kV Glacios cryomicroscope fitted with a Falcon 3 direct electron detector and a Zeiss Auriga dual beam FIB-SEM equipped with a Quorum cryo-stage. Key responsibilities include:
1. Perform experiments using biochemical, structural and molecular biology techniques (independently and in collaboration with other team members)
2. Participate in experimental design and data analysis
3. Participate in the data preparation and writing of manuscripts
4. Actively participate in lab meetings, scientific seminars and conferences

Profile of candidates/requirements:
1. Doctoral degree in molecular biology, biophysics or biochemistry (obtained not earlier than 2015 or perspective of obtaining one)
2. Strong publication record and experimental training
3. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
4. Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and spoken)
5. Strong motivation to work and pursue scientific questions, creativity and analytical thinking
6. Project management and scientific writing experience
7. Additional experience in structural biology would a plus, but not required
