Project description:
The goal of this project is to bring a marked advancement in the design, synthesis, and in-depth understanding of photoelectrochemical performance, and available a variety of polycrystalline complex semiconducting electrodes for use in solar fuel production by exploiting electrochemical synthesis methods. These processes are a paramount importance in order to optimize manufactured photoelectrodes used for solar energy conversion since charge transfer is the basis of all photoelectrochemical reactions. Thus, the objective of this project is to identify and provide in-depth understanding of charge carrier dynamics in complex or multi-layered photoelectrodes, and associate it with their photoelectrochemical performance. In this regard, the present project addresses a key need in the successful development of new photocatalysts architectures which consider the interfacial phenomena and charge transfer.

Key responsibilities include:
Follow the PhD School programme;
to commit adequate time and effort to the project;
to display initiative in identifying and resolving problems relating to the research;
to manage their work efficiently and increase the visibility through the publications

Profile of candidates/requirements:
The competition is open for persons who meet the conditions specified in the regulations on the allocation of resources for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Science Centre for Sonata Bis 7 grant;

-applicants must have a MSc degree in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, or in the relevant field. The MSc degree should be obtained before the date of employment in the project – by 30.09.2020 at the latest;
– Confirmed status of a PhD student on the day of starting the work in the project (01.10.2020).

Important:
To receive the stipend, the successful candidate needs to have a PhD student status at Polish university either in a PhD programme or in a Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences (e.g., at University of Warsaw registration deadline is 28.06.2020, https://szkolydoktorskie.uw.edu.pl/en/), according to standing
procedures;
-experience in laboratory work
-preference will be given to candidates who have experience in materials synthesis and/ or photoelectrochemistry
-ability to work in a team, and to communicate effectively with team members, will also be an advantage
