Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist

Position starts on: January – April 2019
Period of contract: 1 year (with possibility of extension)
First TEAM project: Cellular mechanisms handling failed mitochondrial protein translocation events
Project leader: Dr. Piotr Brągoszewski

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysis and integration of different types of NGS/omics data with main focus on transcriptomics.
  • Functional interpretation of results of omics experiments including pathway and gene set enrichment analysis, identification of clusters, generation and comparison of signatures, correlation with phenotypic features and clinical endpoints
  • Participation in experimental design and data analysis
  • Participation in data preparation for publication
  • Active participation in lab meetings, scientific seminars and conferences

Profile of candidates/requirements:

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, biomedical informatics or a related field
  • Excellent knowledge of computational methods for the analysis, integration and interpretation of high-throughput biological data from sequencing and array-based technologies
  • Excellent programming, data analysis and data visualization skills in R/Bioconductor; python/perl programing
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix command line and high-performance computing environments
  • Sound understanding of biology
  • Very good command of English
  • Motivation and passion for research work
  • Experience with the application of machine learning methods to biomedical data; experience with automated biological imaging data processing; experience with manuscript preparation will all be considered a plus
