We are pleased to announce that the team of Krzysztof Kazimierczuk, PhD, DSc, from the NMR Spectroscopy Laboratory (CeNT) achieved considerable success. The publication of the results obtained under the First Team and HARMONY grant has just appeared in Angewandte Chemie (IF 12.257) and was enthusiastically received (below is an excerpt from a letter from the editor):

Congratulations !

According to the evaluation of referees the results reported in your Communication are “highly important” or even “very important”. Less than 10% of our manuscripts receive such a positive review. (…) Furthermore, you are welcome to submit graphical material suitable for display on the outside or inside covers of Angewandte Chemie. Manuscripts that have received such positive recommendations are favored in our selection process.

The manuscript presents a novel method to massively accelerate (by an order of magnitude, i.e. from days to hours) the acquisition of complete titration series of 2D protein NMR spectra. These experiments are of great importance and extensive use, also in the pharmaceutical drug discovery process, as they can simultaneously return accurate affinity constants for, and broad atomic information on, even very weak molecular interactions. Such data is crucial, for example, to guide the structure-based optimization of highly specific, strong ligands, or to elucidate a protein’s interaction network.
