The Foundation for Polish Science announced the results of the START competition. 12 laureates from the University of Warsaw received prize. One of laureate is PhD student Renata Kasprzyk from the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry prof. Jacek Jemielity.
The laureate works on development of methods that can be applied in high-throughput screening studies on therapeutically relevant proteins involved in 5’ mRNA end metabolism. In the near future the laureate is going to apply one of her methods to characterize nsp14 and nsp16 proteins from SARS-CoV-2 in order to select molecules that could be a starting point for the design of drugs against COVID-19 disease.
