Economic Award from Poland’s President for Warsaw Genomics.

On October 7th in Jasionka, near Rzeszów, Poland’s President granted the Economic Award in the special category Startup_PL to Warsaw Genomics.

Warsaw Genomics has been founded by Anna Wójcicka, MD, PhD, and Prof. Krystian Jażdżewski, MD, PhD, both employees of the Center for New Technologies (CeNT) in 2015.

Warsaw Genomics he developed the proprietary method of genetic analysis, which decreased 20-fold the price of the multigene test. Due to this innovation the company was able to start the National Cancer Risk Assessment Program, which attracted so far over 22 000 people. The aim of the Program is to identify all the people predisposed to inherited cancers in entire Polish population, and introduce each person at risk into personalized prophylactic plan.

The diagnostic technology developed by Warsaw Genomics allows to determine the gene mutations that are responsible also for other inherited disorders, including those of nervous, digestive or immune systems. The technology also allows for choosing the best therapies for oncological patients.

The company was nominated for the award by the Foundation of the Polish Promotional Emblem “Teraz Polska”. For a company to be nominated in the category “Startup_PL”, it had to be operating for no longer than 5 years, and should have created a product or technological innovation.
