Behind the Scenes of Research: Participants of the Chancellors’ and Bursars’ Conference Visit CeNT

Category: CeNT news, Main page

From 17 to 19 September, the University of Warsaw hosted the Chancellors’ and Bursars’ Conference, bringing together representatives of several dozen Polish universities. One of the programme highlights was a visit to the Ochota Campus, where the participants visited the University of Warsaw’s Centre of New Technologies (CeNT). The visit provided an opportunity to showcase CeNT’s state-of-the-art research infrastructure and the Centre’s operations.

The guests were welcomed by Prof. Jacek Jemielity, Director of the Centre of New Technologies, who introduced the participants to CeNT and the research conducted at the Centre. In his presentation, he also spoke about the barriers to the development of science in Poland. Dr Marta Piszczatowska from the University of Warsaw Museum, in turn, presented the history of the Ochota Campus and the units located there.

An important part of the visit was a tour of CeNT, prepared by Dr Ewa Jabłonka, Deputy Director for Operations. Participants had the opportunity to see behind the scenes of the Centre’s research and service laboratories, as well as its server room. They visited, among others, the biological and chemical laboratories, learning about the research conducted there, the operation of the infrastructure and the security systems in place.

The visit provided an opportunity to demonstrate how state-of-the-art infrastructure and interdisciplinary collaboration create an environment for research that helps shape the directions of contemporary science. CeNT is a space where different scientific disciplines intersect, theoretical research is combined with experimental work, and collaboration extends across research and service laboratories as well as the Centre’s administrative facilities.

The Conference therefore combined an exchange of experiences among professionals responsible for the operation of Polish universities with an opportunity to explore the infrastructure of the University of Warsaw, including the Centre of New Technologies, its laboratories and the technical facilities of the Ochota Campus.
