Laboratorium Biologii Molekularnej Nowotworów

Przejście guza ze stanu pierwotnego do opornego na leczenie stanu z przerzutami jest najczęstszą przyczyną zgonu pacjentów z chorobą nowotworową. Nadal pozostaje niewyjaśnione dlaczego niektóre komórki w nowotworze są bardziej oporne na leczenie lub wykazują zwiększone właściwości do inwazji i tworzenia przerzutów. Model nowotworowych komórek macierzystych sugeruje fenotypowe i funkcjonalne zróżnicowanie wśród komórek nowotworowych. Nowotworowe komórki macierzyste odgrywają kluczową rolę w inicjacji nowotworu, progresji choroby, przerzutach i oporności na leczenie. Dlatego nasze badania koncentrują się na:

  1. zdefiniowaniu komórek, które zapoczątkowują proces nowotworzenia
  2. szlakach sygnałowych zaangażowanych w heterogenność guza z naciskiem na komórki nowotworowe o potencjale inwazyjnym
  1. roli przejścia komórek nowotworowych ze stanu epitelialnego w mezenchymalny (EMT) w regulacji funkcji macierzystych komórek nowotworowych, przerzutach oraz w oporności na obecnie dostępne terapie
  2. roli mikrośrodowiska w rozwoju fenotypowej i funkcjonalnej różnorodności komórek nowotworowych

W naszych badaniach stosujemy różne podejścia molekularne i komórkowe. Opracowujemy również systemy reporterowe umożliwiające badanie nowotworowych komórek macierzystych jak i komórek inwazyjnych a także heterogenność komórkową w modelach nowotworów mysich i ludzkich.
